Pay, Pay for

둘 다 돈을 지불하는 개념이나 그 대상에 따라 for가 붙기도 한다.

 

(1) Pay : 사람에게 돈을 지불, 특정 금액, 청구서 등이 뒤에 올때 for 없이 쓴다. 

ex) We alwalys pay the phone bill on the 10th of the month.

ex) At the dinner, you pay the cashier near the door.

ex) I am going to pay my gas bill

 

(2) Pay for : 돈을 지불하고 동시에 받는 사건이나 아이템 또는 서비스 일 때는 for와 같이 쓴다.

ex) The boss pays for lunch

ex) You have to pay for the item before you take it out of the store.

ex) I paid for the movie tickets online.
