Sign은 '신호'외에도 다양한 의미를 가지고 있다. 동사로 쓰일 경우에는 위 제목과 같이 '서명하다'와 '계약하다"의 의미를 갖는다.
1) 서명하다.
ex) He signed the letter (그는 편지에 서명했다)
ex) He signed his name on the letter (그는 편지에 자신의 이름을 적었다.)
2) 계약하다 : 기본적으로 '팀'이 어떤 '선수'를 계약하는 의미이며 반대로 쓰일경우는 보통 전치사 'with'나 'for'가 쓰인다.
ex) The football team has signed the player from South Korea.
ex) The player from South Korea has signed with the football team.
ex) The player from South Korea has signed for the football team.
